Adam is a BJJ brown belt with 9 years on the mats and over 100 competition matches in Gi and No-Gi. He coaches beginners through to advanced grapplers, adults and children alike.
Adam has been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for 9 years and is a Brown Belt under Carlson Gracie Hull. Throughout his journey he has competed extensively in both Gi and No-Gi, with over 100 competition matches and 15+ invitational matches behind him. One of his notable achievements is 2nd place at the 2026 British Open in the Master 3 Medium Heavyweight division.
With 3 years of coaching experience, Adam has worked with students of all abilities, from complete beginners to advanced grapplers, coaching both adults and children. He has also cornered numerous athletes at BJJ competitions, supporting them both on and off the mats.
His own grappling style combines heavy top pressure with an unorthodox and creative guard game, incorporating leg locks along the way.
A mat where everyone is welcome
As a coach, Adam believes that how you treat those with less experience or ability than yourself says far more about you as a grappler than how you perform against those at your level. He has little time for mat bullying and is passionate about creating an environment where everyone feels welcome, respected and able to develop.
His approach to teaching is simple: you're here to learn a skill and enjoy yourself, and there's no reason you can't do both.
Your first classes with Adam
When welcoming new members to our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes in Hull, Adam takes the time to understand their experience and individual goals. He then adapts his teaching to their needs, breaking techniques down into manageable foundations before gradually developing them as their understanding and ability grow.
For Adam, a successful class is simple: if everyone leaves having learned something new, enjoyed a good workout and shared a few laughs along the way, then it's been a good session.
New to grappling? Our beginner's guide to your first BJJ class covers what a first session looks like and the positions you'll learn first.
