As a kid growing up watching Bruce Lee movies, I've always loved martial arts.
I tried some karate as a young boy but didn't stick with it. I did a little bit of boxing at a club with my mates but again didn't stick with it. As a teenager I got into lifting weights as my brother got into it. But always had a soft spot for martial arts.
I started out doing freestyle martial arts and boxing in my early 20's while i was working in some of hull's colourful night spots ( pubs /clubs) as a doorman. Then at 27 years old i met a guy (dale Robinson) who taught jeet kune do (which was the fighting style of Bruce lee) and from there was introduced to Andy Norman who had a private club in Brough. Through Andy I got the chance to train in bjj in the late 90s / Early 2000s as he was linked to the Machado's who were and are still very well accomplished bjj practionares.
Andy along with his mentor at the time Justo Dieguez were building a new style of martial arts call keysi or KFM.
Their fighting style grew over the years which I was proud to be a part of. Along the way success followed, they were the fight consultants for the first 2 batman movies along with a couple of other movies, they also starred in a TV documentary shown on Bravo tv called 'Alex Reid' The fight of my life which I got to be a part of.
In 2006 I decided to open my first Martial Arts Academy and have progressed over the years into bigger and better premises. Around 2013 I moved away from the KFM to pursue my own personal goals
In 2019 I found a passion for muay thai after travelling to Australia and training with the Australian Thai Legend John Wayne Parr who is a 10 time world champion. On my return to UK I started looking for a high level Thai Coach
and was lucky enough to get to train under
Leeds based 8x world champion Liam Harrison and also Andy Howson who is also a 5x World champion. Travelling down there 2 x a week has helped me bring some world class knowledge and training to hull to pass on to my students!
